“The cameraman leaves the filming location minutes before the live broadcast to go to the bathroom. While waiting in a long line of impatient and grumbling people, the war is discussed in detail by those waiting in line. Some praise the photographer, while others criticize him for not covering a particular incident or not being present at a certain location during an event. The photographer’s tension and need to use the restroom continue until he relents and returns to the live broadcast to cover one of the massacres currently taking place…”

Trained in video art and painting, Emad Badwan has extensive experience in photojournalism, as both a cameraman and editor. In December 2024, he was selected to participate in the Gaza Biennale art project in Ramallah, where he presented a short film: “Live Broadcast.” This short film has been screened in France and will soon be shown in Italy and Greece. The film depicts the daily lives of reporters in the field, from the quest for connectivity to the most basic needs, all while being a constant target of drones. He plans to make another documentary and to produce more artistic creations in order to better convey his ideas while documenting the ongoing tragedy. Exploring the themes of humanity through different media has always been his primary intention, as an artist as well as a journalist, and he intends to continue down this path.

تدرب عماد بضوان في مجال الفنون المرئية والرسم، ويتمتع بخبرة واسعة في مجال التصوير الصحفي، سواء كمصور أو كمحرر. في ديسمبر 2024، تم اختياره للمشاركة في مشروع بينالي غزة الفني في رام الله، حيث قدم فيلماً قصيراً بعنوان ”بث مباشر“. عُرض هذا الفيلم القصير في فرنسا، وسيُعرض قريباً في إيطاليا واليونان. يصور الفيلم الحياة اليومية للمراسلين في الميدان، من البحث عن الاتصال إلى تلبية الاحتياجات الأساسية، في ظل استهدافهم المستمر بطائرات بدون طيار. يخطط بضوان لإنتاج فيلم وثائقي آخر والمزيد من الأعمال الفنية من أجل نقل أفكاره بشكل أفضل مع توثيق المأساة المستمرة. لطالما كان استكشاف موضوعات الإنسانية من خلال وسائل الإعلام المختلفة هدفه الأساسي، كفنان وكصحفي، وينوي الاستمرار في هذا المسار.
